Libyan Desert Glass Sunburst Jewelry Necklace Pendant Fiery Sunburst Cabochon Setting
Our Libyan Desert Glass Fiery Sunburst cabochon setting is made of sterling silver. The center gemstone was cut from a space rock that at one time laid still and alone in the solitary desert winds that prevaded the Libyan Desert. This monumentally beautiful yellow frothed sand droplet was cut and set in this sterling silver sunburst sterling silver pendant necklace. Space gem jewelry are treasures for a lifetime! Natural, wind polished, carved to fit the setting.
What is Libyan Desert Glass? Libyan Desert glass is the ejected, melted and then cooled coalesced sand droplet remains of what was once an asteroid, comet, or meteorite space rock that collided with the Libyan Desert 26 million years ago. From that event the heavens rained backed to earth these all-naturally formed beautiful yellow droplets, only found in the Libyan Desert. They are solitary remains that speak of a vanished era long ago when a space invader pummeled the region nowadays referred to as the Libyan Desert. Each beautiful and unique pendant necklace jewelry setting is a historical reminder of the heated, tortured and twisted sand that has now become this elegant, treasured jewelry.
We have fashioned these beautiful, froth-like yellow gemstone droplets, discovered and gathered by explorers and Bedouins to the region, into fine cosmic jewelry "cosmos-wear". Archaeologically, it was so valued by the ancient Egyptians to have been placed as the centerpiece gemstone on the breastplate of King Tut!
