Lechatelierite Tenoumer Impact Crater
Very unusual and rare lechatelierite from the Tenoumer Impact Crater, El Khatt, Mauritania. Formed by high temperature impact, this material consists of green, brown, reddish and white material, with lechatelierite being the main component.
Lechaterlierite does not have a crystal structure so it is considered to be a mineraloid. It is classified in the quartz mineral group even though it is not true mineral. Usually lechaterlierite is formed by a natural process involving lightning and high temperature melting of quartz sand producing fulgurites.
Size: 21mm H X 16mm W X 6mm D.
Ships with Certificate of Authenticity, information about the specimen, tag and tag stand. Photo cube and acrylic base not included.
Very rare material from an interesting impact site.
