Hollandia Shipwreck History
On July 13, 1743, the Dutch ship Hollandia embarked on her maiden voyage from Amsterdam to Indonesia, only to tragically strike rocks off the coast of the Isles of Scilly. All 276 crew members perished, and the ship, laden with silver coins and various goods, was lost to the sea. In 1971, renowned diver Rex Cowan discovered the wreck, uncovering a treasure trove of silver coins, bronze cannons, and mortars.
This authentic 4 Reales silver coin, minted in 1740, is beautifully mounted in a 33mm (1 1/2" W) 14k gold rope coin mount setting. The coin retains its admirable distinguishing features despite being submerged in saltwater since 1743.
Key Features:
- Authentic 4 Reales Silver Coin: Minted 1740 from the historic Hollandia shipwreck.
- Elegant 14k Gold Setting: 33mm (1 1/2" W) rope coin mount.
