Product Description

Tully Monster Mazon Creek Illinois
Tully monster is the abbreviated name for the state fossil of Illinois, Tullimonstrum gregarium. This interesting fossil was first found in the late 1950s by Francis Tully, a fossil hunter and enthusiast. It is a soft bodied bilaterian so it does not have a shell. It lived in an ancient sea during the Pennsylvanian Period, about 300 million years ago.

The snout ended in a "jaw" that contained eight very small "teeth." The "tail" had three triangular fins. It is found along the banks of Mazon Creek, in Illinois. Its ancestry is unknown and so far it is found nowhere else in the world, besides the state of Illinois.

Size of specimens: 60 mm H X 30mm W X 5mm D (left pictured specimen); 54mm H X 30mm W X 4mm D (right pictured specimen). These specimens have great detail. Ships with Certificate of Authenticity, tag, tag stand and information about the specimens. Extremely hard to find specimens. Get them while you can!
