Product Description

A "shock wave frozen in stone," the remnant of the giant asteroid impact at Beaverhead, Montana which occurred about 600 million years ago. The rise of the Rocky Mountains distorted the crater, but it seems to have originally been over 60 miles in diameter!

Beautiful red quartzite shatter cone shaped like an arrowhead, with the characteristic "horsetail" fracture patterns on both front and back of this gem. A great sample from among what one expert called the "finest shatter cones on Earth".

Size: 5"W X 5" H X 2"D

Weight: 2.5 Lbs.
