Product Description

Libyan Desert Glass Fire Shaped King Tut Glass
This is top-notch, extraordinarily fine Libyan Desert Glass specimen. Its unusual contortions feature phenomenal dimples and this makes for a great display piece. It does sit flat on a desk from its bottom, and remarkably looks like a blazing fire!

Revered by the Egyptians, this all natural glass was used for jewelry, trade, and even by the Pharaoh King Tut - as it is one of the stones in his breastplate!

Libyan Desert Glass is all-natural glass that scientists believe was created when an asteroid or comet impacted the Libyan Desert 26 million years ago. The sand was seared by the high temperatures caused by the impact, ejected into the atmosphere and transformed into coalesced droplets. It was cooled by the atmosphere as it rained back down to Earth.

Libyan Desert glass is one of the most exotic and distinctive natural glasses on the planet. It is straw-colored yellow in tone and the legendary aspects of this glass makes it a coveted specimen for geological displays.
