Understanding Sand Poster
Each day there is a new panorama to be found on every beach on earth. It is a new story of the things that have been done by wind, wave and current. You can learn more about your world by studying sand. It can teach you about rocks, mechanical action such as freezing, thawing and the movement of glaciers as they grind rocks into smaller piece. Sand can tumble down hills into stream beds, later getting tossed and jostled by eddying pools in streams, lakes and even oceans. Despite the many changes that rock goes through to become sand, by carefully studying it, sand can tell you much about its parent rock and source of origin. Sand from a beach in Australia will be visually and chemically different from that found in India, or even the United States. Each day the Earth tells a different story about how it changes with sand.
