Dhofar 018 is a howardite and is so beautiful! It makes stunning pieces of jewelry with its numerous white clasts, small flecks of flashy metal, and contrasting light and dark intricate lithologies.

There is something astoundingly special about wearing asteroid jewelry. First and foremost is that this beautiful sterling silver starburst style pendant contains asteroid 4 Vesta! It is quite probably the most unique jewelry you can ever wear! We have made 3 pieces, and will come out with matching earrings shortly. Everything is from the same piece bought from Labenne Meteorites, in 2002.

Necklace Pendant Size: 40 mm or about 1 1/2" diameter. Meteorite diameter is about 1/2" or 12mm. Sterling Silver. 19" black chord chain included!

About the Asteroid Vesta: It is the brightest asteroid visible from Earth and is the second most-massive body in the asteroid belt (with the largest being the dwarf planet Ceres). It is thought that numerous fragments of 4 Vesta were ejected by collisions around two billion years ago. Vesta has been a rich source of information about asteroids, as debris from collisions have fallen to Earth in the form of these exotic howardite–eucrite–diogenite (HED) meteorites.

About Howardites: These are achondritic stony meteorites that originate from the surface of the asteroid 4 Vesta and are part of the HED meteorite clan. There are about 200 distinct members known members. Named after Edward Howard, a pioneer of meteoritics, Howardites are a regolith breccia consisting mostly of eucrite and diogenite fragments. The rock formed from impact ejecta which later found its way to earth.
