WHAT IS LIBYAN DESERT GLASS? This unique glass was found in King Tut's tomb and is the centerpiece in his breastplate. Scientists concur that it may be the remains of an asteroid or comet that impacted the Libyan Desert, causing the sand to be ejected upward, melting and cooling in its descent to earth. These remnants of cosmic collision are called "impact materials", and they are fascinating specimens which hold the clue to the natural of the impactor that struck this desert an estimated 26 million years ago.
This beautiful Libyan Desert Glass has been wire wrapped in sterling silver and 14kt gold in an ornate design.
Collected before 1970. This is the exact jewelry piece you will receive.
