Product Description

Genuine European Cave Bear Molar

The cave bear (Ursus spelaeus) was a species of bear that lived in Europe during the Pleistocene and became extinct at the beginning of the Last Glacial Maximum, about 27,500 years ago.

The cave bear's range stretched across Europe; from Spain and Great Britain in the west, Italy, parts of Germany, Poland, the Balkans, Romania and parts of Russia, including the Caucasus; and northern Iran. No traces of cave bears have been found in Scotland, Scandinavia or the Baltic countries, which were all covered in extensive glaciers at the time.

Usually broken, eroded or just usually junky looking, this very large cave bear canine is in superb condition. The entire surface is dense and smooth. The entire crown of the tooth is complete with intact enamel, with no peel or separation from the root.

This is a large canine and the great fossil. NO RESTORATION OR REPAIR. Recommended for anyone wanting an inexpensive yet, fine quality specimen from the great European Cave Bear of the Pleistocene.
