The Ankh symbol means "life." The design used for this jewelry is based on the hieroglyphic inscription carved on the limestone slab in The British Museum, bearing the names and titles of Ammenemes III, Twelfth Dynasty, about 1825 B.C.
It is thought that pictorially the sign originally represented the tie straps of a sandal or possibly a mirror
in its case.
